Media & Studios – Battery safety

In studios, many camera, audio and drone batteries often charge in parallel during a production — in a confined space and close to high-value equipment.

The starting situation in this area

RUK Li-Ion Safety Box – example placement in Media & Studios

Day-to-day production requires compact, unobtrusive solutions that can be integrated into existing studio spaces without disrupting the workflow.

A production runs on batteries: camera V-mounts, radio links, sound kit, lights, monitors, drones. Between two shoot days everything has to be full again at the same time — twenty or thirty batteries in circulation is normal, not the exception. For the most critical packs that creates a need for a monitored charging place instead of the trolley.

Charging happens wherever there is room: in the technical room, in the props store, on the trolley next to the case, in the OB van. Around it sits equipment in the five- and six-figure range, plus molton, fabrics and set material.

Then the time pressure. A lost shoot day cannot be made up, a studio booking cannot be moved. In day-to-day production there is practically no time for a thorough check of the batteries.

Where the fire protection box is used in practice

  • 01Charging stations for camera and audio equipment in studios
  • 02Charging areas for drone batteries during productions
  • 03Prop and technical rooms with high device/battery density
  • 04Mobile production vehicles (OB vans) with charging equipment

How it works in practice

  1. 01

    Fit it in compactly

The box is placed discreetly in the studio, the prop room or the OB van, without disturbing production.

  2. 02

    Charge different battery types together

Camera, sound and drone batteries are charged together in the monitored interior.

  3. 03

    Protect equipment nearby

The closed system holds in flames and heat and so protects valuable camera and technical equipment around it.

  4. 04

    Keep production running

Active intervention in critical states reduces the risk that a safety incident interrupts a shoot or a broadcast.

What the deployment achieves in practice

Protects high-value equipment

Protects expensive camera and technical equipment from consequential damage in the event of an incident.

Safe handling of many battery types

Suitable for the daily swap of a wide range of camera, audio and drone batteries.

Compact form factor

Can be integrated even where a studio has little space for additional safety measures.

Lower interruption risk

Active intervention minimises the risk of an interruption during filming or broadcast times.
