FAQ
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Answers on use, technology, fire events and ordering the Li-Ion Safety Box M.
General
What is the Li-Ion Safety Box M designed for?
The Li-Ion Safety Box M provides preventive fire protection when handling lithium-ion batteries. It is designed to contain flames, heat and smoke in a controlled way and protect the surrounding area in the event of thermal runaway, overheating or a battery fire.
Which battery types can be used?
Common lithium-ion batteries such as e-bike batteries, power tool batteries, batteries from mobile devices and compact energy storage units are suitable, within the permitted dimensions and capacities. Damaged or swollen batteries should be assessed individually.
Is the Li-Ion Safety Box M a suppression system?
Yes. The Li-Ion Safety Box M is an active suppression system. It reacts automatically to thermal escalation and releases an extinguishing medium to quickly stabilise the situation.
What happens inside the box during a fire?
The box is designed to contain flames inside, dissipate heat in a controlled manner, prevent fire spread and protect the immediate surroundings.
Can smoke or gas escape?
Smoke and gases can be produced during a battery fire. The box reduces the effects through controlled fire-gas management (venting, cooling, filtration). A well-ventilated installation location is recommended.
Does the Li-Ion Safety Box M replace other fire protection measures?
No. It does not replace statutory fire protection requirements, structural measures or operational safety concepts. It is an additional protective measure.
Is the box also suitable for private households?
Yes — provided local fire protection regulations are met. It is suitable for private households, workshops, businesses and technical environments.
Does the box require maintenance?
The box is maintenance-free according to the product datasheet. Visual inspections of seals, hinges and latches are still recommended, as well as a professional inspection after a fire event.
Technology & Capacity
What are the maximum capacities?
According to the datasheet: max. 3.6 kWh per individual battery and max. 3.6 kWh total capacity at the same time, e.g. 4 × 900 Wh bicycle batteries.
Which extinguishing agent is used?
TRIDENT® foam agent with high cooling performance, 12-litre fill volume, 10-year shelf life, spray duration of approx. 4 minutes 30 seconds.
How is the box powered?
Mains supply 100–230 V AC, 50–60 Hz. Interior sockets: 4 × 110/230 V, max. 10 A total. Plus an internal 13.6 V LiFePO4 power supply.
What protection class does the box have?
IP54. Ambient temperature 5–45 °C, humidity 5–95% RH. Protect from direct sunlight.
